If you have ever came across or are using a Android OS based smartphone and downloaded some Apps you must have observed that Some Applications even after downloading and installing  when Opened for the first time ask your permission to Download some data to run the app in addition to what you had already done , which was really annoying .

Now Google Has break-freed the Limit of maximum app size of 50MB in Android Market expanding the Android app size limit to 4GB . That means for each application a Developer can host two companion files of 2GB each with APK File . Google had already Announced and gave indications of this last year at Google I/O and today announced about this increase in the Android Developers Blog.

The Developers should also be aware that Google has not increased the APP APK Size limit , it's still the same old 50MB but the addition comes with 2 companion files of 2GB each with APK File .Thus the Developer now have a Total of 4GB Of Data to be Hosted on the market along with the 50MB App APK .

Further the users will NOT see the APK size of the app when they go to download rather they will be seeing the Total size of app and downloads before installation .

That also Marks some change in the Newer and Older devices as you go Downloading an app from Android market with  Newer Android device the expansion files will be downloaded automatically making the refund period stop until the expansion files are completely downloaded .

However if you go Downloading an app from Android market with Older Android device the same issue will occur making you to Download the expansion files only when you run the app first time .

Developers can refer for more Information in the Dev Guide for Android Developers .
