Complete Features and List of Devices to get Android 4.1 Jelly Bean !

Android 4.1, Jelly Bean, Finally got official yesterday and now Android users got a new version to look forward for their devices. Many of you would still be waiting for 4.0 ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich) update on your devices but this release from Google would make your mind to jump straight away to Jelly Bean and skip what we call Ice Cream Sandwich !:)

The major thing taken from ICS is the Project Butter to make your smart-phone experience more faster and better with enhanced technology and inclusion of new features. We can see it as a step forward from what users witnessed in Ice cream Sandwich.

Android 4.1, Jelly Bean

I will start with a new feature that comes with NFC part which allows connection between the device and say a Bluetooth speaker, Just by a TAP. Next is the way Notifications would be customized. Google has now made it possible to allow you to call back someone from the notification area itself, so next time when you have a missed call, you won't have to click it first. Language emphasis is also there including major foreign languages like Thai,Hindi & Persian in a total of 18 new input languages.

So i heard someone, saying, Apple has SIRI. Really, well Google seems to focus on this well by presenting an improved Voice search. The voice search would get around your answers on the basis of a knowledge graph. The understanding of the language in which you speak has been improved as well. Other updates includes -

  • Filmstrip view
  • Delete photos by swiping them away!
  • Improved Gallery scrolling

Widgets placement was also given an emphasis as demonstrated during Google I/0 2012 yesterday which can now easily create space for the widget automatically to place on your home screen. It will automatically arrange the present onscreen icons/widgets so that you will choose what and where to insert.

Will my device get Jelly Bean 4.1 ?

Till date, Only 3 devices are confirmed to receive an Over The Air update to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean which are-

  • Samsung Galaxy Nexus
  • Nexus S
  • Motorola Xoom
And yes Google Nexus 7, is of-course the first device, to be running the latest software. ASUS users should seem to be cheerful since having manufactured the first device to run on Android 4.1, there is no reason why they won't be able to make it available to their other devices such as Transformer series.

Other major players in the market Samsung, HTC, Motorola, LG,etc, present their different views as to how and when their users would see the latest version running on their android devices.

However as heard from statements of Samsung and Motorola you should not expect an update soon. LG and HTC users can keep themselves more open towards this list, as the statements issued by them are more optimistic.
