Youtube has now been blessed with a new Algorithm that will be working on Viewer comments intensity apart from the Title , tags and description to sort out the Most funny videos on youtube by Google researchers !
Google researcher Sanketh Shetty wrote this in a Blog Post on the Research Blog ," We noticed that viewers emphasize their reaction to funny videos in several ways: e.g. capitalization (LOL), elongation (loooooool), repetition (lolololol), exclamation (lolllll!!!!!), and combinations thereof.
Further explaining the new algorithm Shetty wrote ," If a user uses an “loooooool” vs an “loool”, does it mean they were more amused?
We designed features to quantify the degree of emphasis on words associated with amusement in viewer comments. We then trained a passive-aggressive ranking algorithm using human-annotated pairwise ground truth and a combination of text and audiovisual features. "
As also written at the Beginning it does not means that comments and their intensity will be considered solely as the criteria , The Title , tags , description and audible Laughter voices with various reactions would be making a Huge difference as well .
As explained in the Blog Post the comments and other criteria were also specified below
1)sounds associated with laughter such as hahaha, with culture-dependent variants such as hehehe, jajaja, kekeke
2)web acronyms such as lol, lmao, rofl
3)funny and synonyms of funny
4)emoticons such as :), ;-), xP.
Further the research leads to a Comedy Slam Page where viewers can vote for the Most comedy video on a list Generated by the researchers .
Till now already 65,910 people have voted on 1,498 videos and cast 825,022 votes which is a Great Amount and Funny Cat Videos , Best TV AD and Guy gets killed by a Bear stands at the Top of the List .
